Think you recognize one of the band members? The members have been with several other known bands such as, Double Down, Goes Like This, This Ain't LA, Rockit Science and Kacy Jade, just to name a few. If you'd like to know more about the band members check out their bio pages below!
Bob's interest and involvement in music and electronics began simultaneously at age eight, when he repaired an old discarded AM radio. Soon thereafter he joined his elementary school's band and within a few weeks, captured first chair in the trumpet section. He would continue playing the horn throughout his Jr. High and High School days, but at age fifteen he discovered his TRUE musical calling.....ELECTRIC GUITAR!!!
With Bob's musical background and years of radio rock in his head, he was a natural. This, combined with the great rock guitarists of that era, (Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, John McLaughlin, Carlos Santana), inspired him to become an accomplished lead player.
After moving from the valley to Rochester, NY in 1975, Bob, along with fellow guitarist Phil Turnbow and bassist Dave Alexander, formed the band "Android". A mix of 50% current covers and 50% cutting edge originals made this band a fan favorite through the 80's, playing the area's top rated clubs such as the "Penny Arcade", the "Electric Circus" and the "Orange Monkey".
in 1991 Bob returned to the valley and began a project with long time friend and guitarist Bill Hawkins. This collaboration would last for more than five years, writing and performing original and cover material.
in 2000 Bob met bass guitarist Pat Paugh and together they formed the classic rock band "Spur of the Moment". In 2003, with the addition of Drew Martin on drums and Kenny Kacenski on lead vocals, the band evolved into "Rockit Science". Playing a mix of classic and modern rock, this band performed hundreds of shows in and around the valley throughout the 2000's.
Bob's interest has recently turned to bass guitar and together with Kenny on vocals, long time friends Phil Dockery on guitar and Gordon Allen on drums, is back at it with "LIVIN' ON MARS"!!
Gordon is a Phoenix born drummer!! Known also as, Commissioner Gordon! He has over 50 years of drumming experience!
Gordon played his first job in 1970, when he was 12 years old, at the Lost Dutchmen Days Festival in Apache Junction. He also played school events and dances and in the 80's he started to play in the Tempe area with some Southern Rock bands rocking the ASU students. It was a GREAT time after dark on Mill Ave!!!
In the early 90s Gordon was playing hard rock and metal in Phoenix. In the late 90s Gordon got into a blues/classic rock band that was voted #1 entertainment band in the Valley of the Sun!!! Gordon rocked right into the 2000s playing hundreds of jobs each year for 7 years straight with a high energy Classic Rock bands!!
Gordon has had a lot of fun on stage!! One time Doc Severinsen (from The Tonight Night Show with Johnny Carson) walked into the bar, pulled out his horn and jumped right up on stage to play!! LOTS OF FUN!!! And Gordon also has enjoyed playing with Bass player, Bill Plummber! Bill was the Bass player on The Rolling Stones "Exile on Main Street" Album!
Which brings us to the newly formed LIVIN' ON MARS BAND!! Each of the members are great musicians and life long friends from all the other bands mentioned above! Gordon says "We love ROCKIN' YOUR WORLD!!! Can I get a "HELLZ YEAH"?!?! Come rock with us like no one else can! Can't wait to see you there!!"
Kenny was born and raised in the farming communities of East Central Ohio. His love for music began with the Beatles and the Monkees! Persuaded by his mother to take dance lessons, he found his sense of timing and appreciation for music. At the age of thirteen he found an old radio in the basement and he began to sing along and hasn't stopped since!
As the years went by and the rock scene evolved, he was influenced by great bands such as "The Who" and "Led Zepplin". Before he knew it, his ability to memorize and sing the words of popular songs gave him the opportunity to join his first rock band.
After moving to Arizona in 1981, Kenny took vocal lessons to perfect what he loves to do the most ..... SING!! Wanting to be part of the local music scene, he auditioned for several bands but couldn't find just the right fit. Undaunted, he went on to form his own band, "Double Down", and they played all around the valley for more than seven years. After a three year absence (to enjoy being a new dad) he returned to front the classic rock project,
"Goes Like This" and continued with them for more than six years.
In 2003, after careful consideration, Kenny was recruited into the "Rockit Science" program. His enthusiasm, personality, and wide vocal range proved to be an indispensable element in the unmistakably powerful sound that was "Rockit Science". Sadly "Rockit Science" came to an end when members had to move out of state. HOWEVER, this did give Kenny the time to consider the next stage in his singing career! Together with his life long friends, Bob, Gordon and Phil they put together the sound that is now LIVIN' ON MARS and they are now all enjoying nothing but ROCKIN' YOUR WORLD!!
